Sardinia self-drive boat days

Designed for a 40 hp licence-free RIB, four people, 10:00 departure and 16:00 return. Timings are deliberately conservative: they assume relaxed 12–15 knot cruising, safe anchoring, and a two-hour total pause. The rental briefing and sea state always override this map.

La Maddalena: two viable launches

Important park rule

Spiaggia Rosa is a view-from-water stop, not a landing. Do not use old route maps as proof that anchoring, transit, swimming, or shore access is allowed; ask the renter to identify the current National Park restrictions before departure.

Golfo di Orosei: launch from Cala Gonone

For your itinerary, Porto di Cala Gonone is unequivocally the right harbour: it is beside Hotel Cala Luna, is the normal self-drive rental base, and removes an unnecessary road transfer. Do not launch from Orosei; it adds sea miles before the cliffs and headline coves begin.

Before you cast off

A 40 hp boat can reach Cala Goloritze and return, but that becomes a transit-heavy day in a 10:00–16:00 window. Use the recommended Cala Luna–Sisine–Mariolu route instead. Confirm whether beach landings need pre-booking and an environmental contribution on your date.
